Studies clearly show that participation in extracurricular activities provides both immediate and long range benefits to the student and produces collateral value for the community.  Participation cultivates lifelong lessons such as motivation, discipline, cooperation, and organization.

LEAF has established a proven track record over the years as an effective vehicle through which the public can channel contributions to District 742 in support of extracurricular activities. Since its founding, LEAF has provided the District with nearly $600,000 in support of these activities through the following as of September 2009:

$140,000            Junior High Fundraiser (special project in 2002)
$170,276            Activities Projects Grants Program
$198,826            Ticket Surcharge Return Program
  $84,963            Start-up Assistance Repayment Plan
$594,065

At the same time, LEAF has built an endowment that currently stands at $500,000 despite the recent economic downturn.

LEAF has awarded grants in all activities areas. This includes the following breakdown by activity category and grade level:
33% academics
20% in support of arts
34% athletics
13% general activities

Grade Levels:
