The District 742 Local Education & Activities Foundation (LEAF) held its annual Appreciation and Awards Reception on December 5, 2009 at Apollo High School. The purpose of the Reception was to thank the many people who have contributed to the LEAF mission over the past year and to recognize several people with achievement awards. Award presentations recognized individuals for volunteerism, charitable donations, coaching/directing excellence, instructional excellence and lifetime service in support of LEAF’s mission to enhance student development by funding academic, activities, arts and athletic programming in all district schools.

LEAF honorees and guests were treated to a performance of Apollo High School’s production of the Tony-Award Winning Musical “Urinetown” following the appreciation and awards reception in Apollo’s Resource Center. The Apollo Drama Club was a recent recipient of a LEAF grant for the purchase of additional cordless microphones used in the production.
